Dr Amie Kim is an independent researcher. Her research focuses on young people's media culture, children's digital rights, and digital citizenship.

After majoring in French Education and minoring in Journalism and Communication at Seoul National University, she received a master's degree in Technology in Education from Harvard University and a doctorate in Culture, Communication and Pedagogy from the Institute of Education, University of London. She worked as an associate researcher at the Gyeonggi Institute of Education in Korea and a research professor at the Big Data Innovation Sharing College at Seoul National University.

Her recent research explores young people's experiences as digital creators and youth-led research on children's digital rights. 

 

Books include: Why Can't I Stop Watching Shorts? (2025), Digital Citizenship (2025), Our Children Online (2022), Understanding Media Literacy Education (2015), Gender and Media Experience: News, Games, Community, and Literacy (planned/edited, 2023), Children, Media and Pandemic Parenting (co-authored, 2024), Learning to Live with Datafication (co-authored, 2022), and a translated work: Media Education Manifesto (co-translated, 2019).
